Since we stared building this community, BOLT.FUN has given wings to makers all over the world. From VPN’s and wallets, to gamified interactive projects that are now worth millions of dollars. A lot of incredible alumni continued to bring freedom tech and innovative ideas to existence. With that information we’ve defined our purpose - Helping, educating and supporting people who want to learn to live on their own terms. That’s why this year, our focus is on opening the doors to every creative mind out there, help them easily onboard so we can learn and create with FUN!
Speaking of community, the past year we saw impressive growth, with 1,908 new makers joining BOLT.FUN, contributing to 281 new projects and sharing 871 stories. Makers also posted 372 progress reports, showcasing a high level of productivity in this community!
In 2022, we were awarded a $50,000 grant from OKX which helped us to put on the first #LegendsOfLightning — in 2023 were able to secure a total of $87,000 through partners sponsoring tournaments that sparked innovation (see below). This funding has been instrumental in sustaining our team and testing out the tournament model we came up with.

This year brought significant platform enhancements at BOLT.FUN. We revamped Nostr Comments, introduced email notifications and email sign in via one-time password.
Our new Badges system and an Admin Dashboard streamline our internal operations, while MTG's Judge Scorecard app will soon replace cumbersome spreadsheets. Plus, we've open-sourced our Tournament Playbook, allowing anyone to efficiently organize their own hackathons and tournaments.
These improvements are crucial in our mission of equipping makers around the world with the skills, tools, capital and motivation to bring their ideas to life.
We need to build a lot more tooling to help us with running tournaments more efficiently, and supporting more local in person events for free. If you're interested reach out to help us build the best platform for makers!
